    Les frères Chapuisat

Gregory (1972) and Cyril (1976) live and work in situ. They both experienced and received an artistic education abroad for several years before returning to Geneva in 2001. The confrontation of their experiences then led them to develop an interest for spatial installations. These constructions transform space to toy with the boundary between the interior and the exterior as well as the perception of reality. Their installations demand an active participation of their visitors and put them in the position of explorers. These environments – in which visual and intellectual habits are broken – test the audience and force them to use their senses. Often compared to cocoons or burrows, these installations have a power that provokes ambiguous emotional reactions. In 2008 the Chapuisat brothers exposed their work at L.E.S Gallery (Vancouver), La Villa Arson (Nice), Wartesaal (Zurich), In Situ (Paris), Kunsthaus (Zurich) and the Swiss Institute (New York).
